COMPENDIUM MALEFICARUM - Francesco Maria Guaccio - Translated into English (1929) from the 1608 edition.
TRANSLATED BY E. A. ASHWIN, with annotations by Rev. MONTAGUE SUMMERS.
Published in London in 1929, printed in a numbered edition of 1275 copies. Originally divided into three volumes, it was written by Guaccio in 1605 in Cleve, where he had been summoned to assist in a trial initiated by the Holy Inquisition against a priest accused of witchcraft.
There he met the Lorraine prosecutor, Nicolas Remy, who encouraged and assisted him in the composition of the compendium, which indeed contains numerous references to cases handled by Remy, collected in his DAEMONOLATREIAE Libri tres, published in 1595.
